South Lake Tahoe in the Winter
So I am posting this much after the fact, but here it is:
Tuesday - DEC 19 - Arrival
Tuesday - DEC 19 - Arrival
Big Breakfast at Home
Drive to South Lake Tahoe from our house in Berkeley, CA - Listened to Wonder during the drive
Check into Basecamp South
Explored the Area - Walk to the main street and around the neighboring Casinos
Dinner at the Hotel's Beer Garden (They had the cutest couple playing Live music while K challenged me to a game of Connect 4. I did win more than him 😁 )
Wednesday - DEC 20 - Snowboarding
Free Continental Breakfast (We did a waffle and oatmeal)
Snowboarding Lesson for me (It was great because the lesson price included the lesson, the lift tickets, and the snowboard & snowshoes rental)
Regular Snowboarding for K (He already has everything he needed for Snowboarding)
Lunch on Heavenly (We went to the cafeteria styled eatery at the top of Heavenly. Not my favorite at all, but it was my fault. I got the grossest cheesesteak sandwich with this melted cheese that they poured over it. I should have just gotten the pizza and called it a day...)
Dinner at Off the Hook (We were trying to make it to their happy hour but it was packed when we got there and when we were finally seated, happy hour had been over for an hour. The food and staff were still amazing and joined me in singing 'Happy Birthday' to K. We sat at the bar because we love to watch the chef's make the rolls. One of them would talk to us between rolls. It was a lot of fun)
Thursday - DEC 21 - Free Day
Free Day - so we walked around and did some souvenir shopping. We got a really cute airstream ornament for our christmas tree to remember the trip.
Brunch at the Driftwood Cafe (I don't really remember anything about the meal, service, or ambience..)
Walked around Heavenly Resort
Went back to our Hotel - start drinking and took a dip in the hot tub. We were pretty sore from the snowboarding.
Took a nap
Got ready for dinner at the Chart House (This was by far the highlight of the trip. So when we woke up from our nap we had a missed call from the restaurant saying that they had a blackout and would not be serving food until 6 pm. We had over slept and were going to miss our 4 pm reservations so we were okay with this. When we got to the restaurant, we were seated after about 15 minutes. They were still recovering from the black out and a little all over the place. The meal was amazing. We had gotten the Table side Torched Apple Manhattan, Mango Mojito, Shrimp, Crab, Avocado & Mango Stack appetizer, Mac Nut Mahi, the 9oz Filet Mignon with mashed potatoes, and they surprised us with a dessert. I was a little disappointed that it was completely dark by the time we got there so we couldn't see any of the view - the whole reason we picked the place but we had such a good time that it didn't even really matter.)
We gambled a bit (and made $50)!! Neither of us are big gamblers so we stopped pretty early on.
Friday - DEC 22 - Leaving
We had leftovers from the Chart house for breakfast and took our time packing up and getting ready to checkout.
The drive back to Berkeley was great. We finished our book and stopped for gas and picked up In N Out for lunch.
