Day 8 - Brooklyn Bridge, Chinatown, & Little Italy

We again took our time getting up and had breakfast in our room. We then rode the subway over to the Brooklyn Bridge. We walked half of the Brooklyn Bridge before heading back and walking the 10 minutes to Chinatown. We grabbed lunch at Joe's Shanghai and although the soup dumplings were good, I found the scallion pancakes and shrimp fried rice to be spectacular. We had enough to take home leftovers. We did our souvenir shopping here in chinatown because the prices were lowest here.

My high school friend Vanessa met up with us here and we made our way to Little Italy for dessert and to catch up. We sat there for two hours getting reacquainted and reminiscing on old stories. But after two hours a line had started to form by the register and our waitress was eager to get us going. She rudely started cleaning up our table and picking up our tableware while I was still picking at my dessert. But I guess that is just New York for you.

Vanessa and I took some photos then headed to the subway to go our separate ways. It was great getting to see her again. Kevin and I took a nap before eating leftovers and heading out to meet Katie for our last night out.

We were walking through this park to get to the bar and at three different instances a big fat brown rat would run across our path. The very last time I gave out a shriek. The rat had run across our path but stopped right in front of us and we locked eyes. It was like he was sizing us up. I took the defensive route where all Kevin did was get between the two us. Like that would stop the rat. The rat heard the shriek and he took off. I won.

Katie met us at a snug little booth in the back of Pardon my French. We got vodka tonics and caught up on the week. We then grabbed pizza at Two Boots (a slice of 'The Meg'), I think it was my favorite pizza during this trip. We next headed to Death & Company, a cute little speakeasy in easy village. We put in reservations around 10 pm and were seated around midnight. Get the blue cheese fries, they are perfectly crispy and delicious. We all got different mixed drinks and they were all delicious. You cannot go wrong.

We waited at a select stop to head home at 1 am and disclaimer the regular busses do not stop at select bus stops and select buses stop running around 11:30 pm. We had to run to the next stop and didn't make it. We ended up spending about $15-20 on a cab. It was a great night up until the very end.
