Day 2 - Empire State Bld, Harlem, and Central Park
Today felt more like a marathon. And like my mother always says, I'm no spring chicken. But as an adult I must rally.
We left the hotel around 7 am and purchased a 7 day pass from the subway. Got breakfast and made our way to Times Square where we finished the Big Bus Tour purple and blue lines. On the purple line we got to see the Hudson River (insert your favorite law and order quote here) and got off at the Empire State Building. We breezed through the Empire State Building since it was early enough that the lines weren't long at all and we had a clear beautiful view from the top. We stopped off at Pandora the jewelry store to get a charm for my travel bracelet. It's coming along nicely, we purchased the silver apple for New York. The blue line took us around Central Park, over by Columbia, and into Harlem. It was again a great tour.
Katie met us at the bike rentals and we were soon riding through Central Park. So many people told me that it was flat. Well let me tell you, they lied. I may have walked my bike up some hills.... I am completely sore but also very satisfied with myself. We made our way around the park, stopping for lunch at a hot dog stand and had a little picnic by Thomas Hamilton. After a few more stops around the park we had to return the bike to pier 78 which completely ruined our plans of going to The Met after the bike ride.
After returning the bikes and rollerblades in Kevin's case, we stopped off at CVS to purchase some groceries for our room. Today is the first day we attempted hotel room cooking and it was quite successful. We made breakfast for dinner - egg sandwiches. Took a quick snooze and now we are getting ready to go out. We are meeting up at Katie's to Pregame and then she's going to show us a few of her favorite spots. I'm just hoping I don't collapse from my legs being too weak.
